One of my best beer-loving friends made a pitcher of this summer shandy last summer and it was super refreshing and delicious. I was surprised to find out that the main ingredient was beer! Can you guess which one? (If you said Ruby Redbird, you'd be correct.) I don't love beer, but I do like it in this refreshing summer cocktail!

Why You'll Love This Shandy Recipe

This shandy is perfect for sipping on while hanging outside on hot days. It's refreshing and summery without the heaviness of beer, and the grapefruit and ginger notes in the Ruby Redbird go perfectly with ginger beer. The addition of mint gives this beverage a nice taste reminiscent of a Moscow Mule - yum! It's especially good for those who want a lower alcohol drink and kind of like beer but don't love it.

The Ingredients

  • Shiner Ruby Redbird - Find it with the other Shiner beers.
  • Ginger beer - Usually found near the other cocktail mixers.
  • Lemon slices
  • Fresh mint

How To Make It

Mix everything up in a pitcher and serve it over ice!

Can I Make Just One Drink?

To make one drink, mix 3 equal parts Ruby Redbird to 1 part ginger beer (or 12 oz Ruby Redbird and 4 oz ginger beer) and add a couple of slices of lemon and a few mint leaves.

Love the sound and look for this! I'm with you, beer isn't my think but I think I'd like this version!
