Change up burger night this summer with a sweet and tangy strawberry basil goat cheese burger. It's unexpected but delicious!
Who doesn't love a good homemade burger? Of course a classic grilled beef burger with all the usual toppings is delicious! But sometimes you just want to change things up a little, and take your burger experience to new heights. That's exactly what this strawberry basil goat cheese burger is for!
Why You'll Love Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Burgers
It's the same juicy grilled beef burger you love, but with a fresh spin on toppings! Sweet sliced summer strawberries, soft and tangy goat cheese, peppery arugula and fresh basil combine into a delicious mouthful of flavors that play well with a balsamic-spiked, pepper crusted burger patty on a soft brioche bun. It might be kind of a 'girly' burger, but who cares? It's so dang good.
How To Make Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Burgers
They're pretty straight-forward. You'll pretty much make normal burger patties, but with a little balsamic vinegar mixed in for a touch of sweetness. Then add all the delicious toppings. Let's break it down:
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with 2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar. Shape into 4 patties and generously season both sides of each patty with kosher salt and pepper.
- Grill the burgers over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, flipping once.
- Toss the arugula with balsamic and olive oil.
- Top each bottom bun with a burger patty, then add goat cheese, sliced strawberries, arugula, and torn basil.
Tips and Tricks For The Best Burgers
- Handle the beef as little as possible when shaping patties to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
- Keep the beef cold before grilling to help the patties keep their shape on the grill.
- You don't want to over-cook the burgers. A juicy patty is key for the right balance of flavor with the toppings. For store-bought ground beef, a safe internal temperature is 160°F. Accounting for 5° increase once the meat is pulled form the grill, you can (and should) pull the burgers once they reach 155°F. If you grind your own meat, you can pull the burgers at a lower temperature (around 135-140°F).
- No grill? You can cook the beef burgers in a skillet on the stove over medium heat.
