This quick and easy 3 ingredient Honey Garlic Salmon is a healthy and delicious salmon recipe that will turn anybody into a salmon lover! It's a great weeknight dinner option. (gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free)
This honey garlic salmon just might be THE easiest, most delicious salmon recipe ever. And I'm not even exaggerating. As food bloggers, we tend to overstate the awesomeness of our dishes sometimes. Like everything we make is just amazing and nothing that comes out of our kitchens is ever just mediocre. spoiler alert - that's not true.
But when it comes to this dish, this honey garlic salmon, I'm not stretching the truth. It is quite literally the easiest salmon to make. And it's also tasty as hell.
Not even kidding, this honey garlic salmon will turn even the pickiest of eaters into salmon eaters. And you hardly have to do any work. #winning.
All you have to do to make this delicious dinner is put a little honey and a little garlic on top of a salmon filet and stick it in the oven for a few minutes. That's it. Done. Amazing dinner on the table.
You can either serve it with a simple green salad for the easiest of meals, or drizzle some asparagus or broccoli with olive oil and place it right on the baking sheet with the salmon, and dinner is done in less than 20 minutes. A piece of parchment or silicone baking mat on your baking sheet makes for easy cleanup once you're done.
Okay, now that you get the idea of how darn easy this salmon is, let's talk about the taste. Honey + salmon with a little time under the broiler is just perfection. The honey on the outside caramelizes just a bit on the edges for a nice, crispy outside, while the inside remains perfectly tender and moist. It's seriously so good. And goes with just about everything.
If you're looking for a healthy and delicious weeknight dinner that will help you get your daily dose of heart-healthy omega-3s, look no further. Whip up this delicious salmon, and you'll wonder why you haven't made it sooner!

PrintThe Easiest Honey Garlic Salmon
This quick and easy 3 ingredient Honey Garlic Salmon is a healthy and delicious salmon recipe that will turn anybody into a salmon lover! It's a great weeknight dinner option. (gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free)
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 3-4 servings 1x
- Category: main dish
- Method: baked
- Cuisine: seafood
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh salmon filet
- 1 tbsp honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Sea salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
- Place salmon, skin side down, on the lined baking sheet. Spread evenly with honey. Sprinkle evenly with garlic. Season to taste with sea salt and pepper.
- Bake salmon 7-10 minutes (longer for a thicker filet).
- Turn on broiler. Place salmon under broiler 5-7 minutes or until salmon reaches desired doneness on the inside and golden on the surface.
- Slide a spatula between skin and flesh to separate salmon from skin. Skin should stick to the parchment. Divide into portions and serve.
Notes
- I've had some readers comment that their parchment paper has burned under the broiler. If this is a concern, you can also use foil or a silicone baking mat (I like Silpat) to line your baking sheet.
- If you do use parchment, I recommend unbleached, silicone treated parchment (rather than bleached and quilon coated), such as If You Care brand.

The recipe is shown with lemon slices. When should those be added?
Kaleigh says
You can add them before placing the salmon in the oven if you like.

I've made this recipe twice. Agree that it's very tasty and easy. One issue I ran into both times: The honey seems to run off the salmon in the oven. I can't taste much of it on the fish. Any suggestions?
Kaleigh says
Hi Ted,
I'm glad you like the recipe! I just try to spoon the honey back over the top at the end.

The honey garlic was delicious. After reading the reviews about the parchment paper burning when put under the broiler. I have a solution. Put the salmon on the parchment paper and cut around the salmon so very little is exposed. It worked perfectly. THIS RECIPE IS A KEEPER. Thx

That's a great idea, thanks for the tip! So glad you enjoyed the recipe.

I put it under the broiler and noticed, after just a coulee of minutes, that the parchment paper burned and started smoking. I looked at the parchment paper package and it said not to put under broiler. I understand that is correct with most parchment paper so not sure why this recipe says to use it, instead of foil.
Mr. Wizard says
Great dish. I added a little teriyaki sauce and it was on! Thanks
Mary says
This is a little embarrassing, but what is a broiler...? Is it a certain kind of pot or pan or is it a setting on the oven...?
Kaleigh says
Hi Mary!
Don't be embarrassed - you can't learn if you don't ask! The broiler is a setting on the oven. It gets really hot so it gets the outside of the fish nice and crispy while keeping the inside moist. You'll place the oven rack about 4 inches under the broiler.

I made this today! Was delicious! I wanted to eat the skin so I didn't use the parchment paper; I just put a light coat of shortening on the baking sheet and put the salmon on top of that. I served it with mashed potatoes and green beans. Will definitely make again.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe!

Perfect recipe for burning the house down. I do not recommend putting parchment paper under a broiler. The honey and parchment paper melted and smoked
Kaleigh says
I'm so sorry that happened to you! How long did you broil it for?
ZARIDA says
Can you use something other than parchment paper?
Kaleigh says
You can use foil or a silicone baking mat if you'd like.
Barbara McMillan says
Yes you can use a grill rack. That's what I use for grilling. Use the grill rack, if you want you can use cooking oil to rub on the rack so it wouldn't stick. That's what I do when I'm grilling fish. It's tender and can stick and fall apart!
Marj says
I brushed the honey on the salmon and put the minced garlic on it and put broccoli around the salmon and drizzled oil on it as instructed. I thought that I was just supposed to put the whole thing in the broiler after I got it out of the oven. Luckily I checked it after a few minutes and saw that the broccoli was burned, as were the bits of garlic, and part of the parchment paper was blackened and looked like it could catch fire at any moment. It didn't occur to me that the parchment paper would burn under the broiler. The broccoli was ruined, but the salmon was good. Not my best cooking experience.
Anthony Barnum says
How do you keep the honey from burning? Did I just use too much?
Kaleigh says
Hi Anthony,
Are you talking about the honey that drips off onto the pan? That's just something that happens!
MaryAnn says
My husband enjoys salmon. I just can’t seem to enjoy the taste but I want to.
Is this recipe a good way to start?
Kaleigh says
Hi MaryAnn!
This recipe is a great place to start! I also suggest buying fresh salmon from behind the fish counter and not frozen, as frozen tends to have a more fishy taste!
Janmejaya says
It was too good mam.
Kaleigh says
So glad you enjoyed the recipe!

I like the skin, skip the paper?
Kaleigh says
I would keep the parchment but oil the skin a little bit so that it doesn't stick. Then just slide the spatula under the skin when you're ready to eat to keep it intact!
Maya Bell says
Sorry. A little confused by the directions. The recipe calls for both broiling and baking the fish?
Bake salmon 7-10 minutes (longer for a thicker filet).
Turn on broiler. Place salmon under broiler 5-7 minutes or until salmon reaches desired doneness
Kaleigh says
Hi Maya,
Yes you finish it under the broiler after baking. Thanks for stopping by!
Bev says
Looks delicious...what about a BBQ cooked version? 🙂
Kaleigh says
Hi Bev,
You could definitely do a grilled version. It would be great on a cedar plank! Thanks for stopping by!
