This homemade 3 ingredient maple cinnamon pecan butter is so easy to make and a delicious spread or topping for toast, yogurt, oatmeal, and more! (vegan, gluten-free)

As a Texan, I'm especially fond of pecans (I grew up with a giant pecan tree in the front yard of our family lake house!), and as such, I like to stuff them into my face in any possible form. And I've now discovered one of my favorite ways yet! If you're a pecan lover, too, you'll fall hard for this delightful maple cinnamon pecan butter!

Why You'll Love This Homemade Pecan Butter

The flavor of this pecan butter is out of this world! Toasty pecans blended into a smooth, creamy spread, flecked with warm notes of cinnamon and lightly sweetened with a hint of maple syrup - it's simply divine. It's also made with just 3 simple ingredients and naturally sweetened, with no added oils. Just pure deliciousness.

How To Make Maple Cinnamon Pecan Butter

4 image collage showing steps for making pecan butter.
    1. Spread the pecans on a baking sheet and toast in the oven at 400°F for 10 minutes.
    2. Add pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt to a high powered blender (such as a Vitamix).
    3. Blend on high, using a tamper if you have one, or stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula.
    4. Keep blending until you have a smooth, spreadable butter. It does take quite a while, so don't worry if it's going slow. It will eventually get smooth.
    5. Scoop pecan butter into an airtight container for storing at room temperature.

    Tips and Recipe Variations

    • This recipe works best in a high-powered blender or food processor.
    • It will take several minutes of blending to become smooth, so don't worry if it takes a while. Just keep blending, blending, blending. If your blender gets too hot, stop for a moment to let it cool, scrape the pecans toward the middle again, and carry on.
    • Store pecan butter in an airtight jar or container at room temperature. Separation is normal, just give it a quick stir before using.

    Ideas For Using Pecan Butter

    • Spread on toast.
    • Use in a sandwich, PB&J style.
    • Top yogurt or oatmeal.
    • Dip apples or your other favorite fruit.
    • Spoon it straight into your mouth, because why not?

    • Prep Time: 15 minutes
    • Cook Time: 10 minutes
    • Total Time: 25 minutes
    • Yield: about 2 cups 1x
    • Category: spread
    • Method: blender
    • Cuisine: American

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 4 cups pecans
    • 3 tbsp maple syrup
    • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
    • ½ tsp salt

    Instructions

    1. Spread pecans on a baking sheet and toast in the oven at 400°F for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and add to a high-power blender (such as a Vitamix).
    2. Add maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Blend on high, using a tamper if you have one, or stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula.
    3. Keep blending until you have a smooth, spreadable butter. It does take quite a while, so don't worry if it's going slow. It will eventually get smooth.
    4. Scoop pecan butter into an airtight container for storing at room temperature.

    Notes

    • This recipe works best in a high-power blender or food processor.
    • It will take several minutes of blending to become smooth, so don't worry if it takes a while.
    • The pecan butter will relax a little bit and become more liquid as it rests, but when stirred, it firms a little bit, unlike other nut butters.
    • Store pecan butter in an airtight jar or container at room temperature. Separation is normal, just give it a quick stir before using.
