Cheesy hot broccoli dip that's secretly healthier is a delicious snack or appetizer loaded with veggies and cheese. It's great for football games and parties! (gluten-free, vegetarian)

Calling all dip lovers! It's the perfect time of year for a warm and cheesy dip. This hot broccoli dip won't disappoint! It comes from my dear friend's mother who used to make it for us when we were kids. To this day, I still love it, and I bet you will too!

Why You'll Love This Hot Broccoli Dip

This dip is the same warm, comforting dip that I know and love, but just a little healthier. It features a creamy, cheesy base filled with broccoli and flavorful red pepper and onion, all topped with more cheese and baked to bubbly perfection. It's easy to make and perfect for any and every gathering!

What Makes This Dip Healthier?

Don't worry, it's still full of (full fat, 100% delicious) cheese! I just replaced the mayo with yogurt, because mayo is gross (IMHO). I also added a little more broccoli and red peppers to up the veggie factor.

How To Make Cheesy Hot Broccoli Dip

8 image collage showing steps for making healthy hot broccoli dip.
  1. Chop the veggies.
  2. Mix the cream cheese and yogurt.
  3. Stir in the veggies and cheese.
  4. Spread in a baking dish.
  5. Top with more cheese and a sprinkle of paprika.
  6. Bake until golden and bubbly!

Ingredient Substitutions

  • This recipe is really very flexible. I've added in other veggies when I didn't have broccoli. I've used Boursin, gruyere, whatever I have. Its always delicious.
  • If you don't have yogurt, you can absolutely use mayo or sour cream.
  • If you have regular cream cheese, use 3 oz and let it soften before whisking.

Have you ever substituted cauliflower for broccoli? Cauliflower happens to be in our refrigerator at the moment;)

Hi Terri, I haven’t, but I’m sure it would work great if that’s what you have!

I've used asparagus, spinach (cooked or frozen, thawed and drained), green onions, and sometimes I leave out the broccoli and just add a lot of bell peppers and onions!
