Toast fall with a seasonal pear collins cocktail made with simple ingredients, this pretty cocktail is easy and delicious!
I often think about the unique challenges and nuances that come with being a food blogger. It gets lonely being at home all day by yourself, even for someone who generally dislikes being around other people.
And when I do hang out with friends or see family, I can’t really vent to them because: 1. I live in a very strange world as a food blogger that anyone who isn’t a blogger really won’t understand, and 2. I’ll just end up sounding like a brat.
I really am so very lucky to get to do my job every day, and that it allows me to stay home with my daughter every day. I really do love what I do. But sometimes, I just want to complain a little and laugh off the daily annoyances with somebody who faces the same set of strange circumstances.
That’s why I love traveling to FNCE, the annual nutrition conference for dietitians, where I get to see all of my internet friends in real life. It’s one of the few occasions where I can connect with like-minded people who I’ve met in person maybe a few times, but it always feels like we’re old friends. (That’s where I’ll be this weekend, and I’m so excited!)
But other than the few trips I take each year, the connection to other people in my industry is all virtual.
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, because sometimes at the end of a long week of being a work at home mom, I just want a tasty cocktail. I won’t be complaining about office drama with colleagues at happy hour on Friday night, but at least I can pretend, right?
And because there’s not much else to say about this delicious pear collins cocktail, other than that if you like gin and you like pears, you’ll love it. And if you don’t like gin, you could use vodka instead. And if you don’t like pears, then I don’t know why you’re reading this in the first place, and I can’t really help you.
So here’s to all of my internet friends (hopefully I’ll be seeing many of you this weekend!), and to all of the other work at home mamas who just want a cocktail at the end of the week. Wishing you a relaxing weekend with a tasty pear collins in your hand! Cheers!
