Making fresh gnocchi requires flour, water, a work surface, and somewhere to cook the finished dough. One pasta creator brought most of that process into what appeared to be an airplane cabin, mixing and shaping gnocchi at her seat while clouds filled the window beside her.

TikTok creator @buonapastaclub shared a video showing semolina flour poured into a shallow bowl, water added to the center, and dough worked by hand. She rolled the dough into ropes, cut it into pieces, and pressed each one against a wooden gnocchi board to form ridges.
The video reached Reddit's r/StupidFood community, where the preparation drew thousands of reactions. Viewers weren't questioning whether she knew how to make pasta. They wanted to know what she planned to do with the raw gnocchi once the shaping was finished.
She shaped the gnocchi on an airplane tray table
The video begins with a message about disliking airplane food and choosing to make it instead.
A shallow bowl holds the semolina flour as water is mixed into the center. The dough comes together under her fingers before being kneaded into a firm mass.
She divides the dough into ropes, cuts them into small pieces with a knife, and rolls them across a ridged wooden board.
Each piece takes on the curved shape and grooves associated with handmade gnocchi.
The finished pieces collect on a plate, but the clip ends before any cooking takes place.
There is no visible pot, stove, or boiling water.
Reddit wanted to know how she planned to cook it
The video drew about 23,000 upvotes and more than 2,100 comments in the r/StupidFood discussion described in the report.
One of the top reactions pointed out that she had finished making a plate of raw gnocchi without showing how it would become a meal.
Other commenters questioned whether flight attendants would provide enough hot water to cook the pasta.
Some also doubted the airplane setting, pointing to the glass of wine, the knife, and the appearance of the cabin as possible signs of a staged video.
Those observations remain speculation. The footage described in the report doesn't establish whether the scene was filmed during an actual flight or on a set.
One commenter familiar with Italian cooking identified the preparation as semolina-based gnocchi rather than the potato version many people know.
The shaping technique wasn't the source of the argument. The missing cooking step was.
The creator completed the dough preparation, formed the pieces, and arranged them for serving, but the video never showed the gnocchi entering boiling water.
The result was a plate of handmade pasta at what appeared to be cruising altitude, with no visible way to turn it into a cooked meal.
