Croissants and ice cream are showing up together across social media, turning the flaky pastry into an edible shell for a frozen filling. Instagram creator @tasdhaliwal tried her own version, cutting open a croissant and stuffing an ice cream bar inside for what she called “a little snack before dinner.”

Her version adds another texture to the trend: instead of scooping soft ice cream into the pastry, the chocolate-coated bar goes inside whole.
Cut a Pocket Into the Croissant

Rather than slicing the croissant from end to end, she cuts into the center from the top. Pulling apart some of the interior creates a pocket while leaving the bottom and sides intact.
That matters once the ice cream starts to soften. The croissant works more like a container than two loose pastry halves, keeping the filling inside.
An Ice Cream Bar Makes the Filling Easier

She skips the ice cream scoop and unwraps a chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream bar. After removing the stick, the bar drops into the opening in one piece.
The chocolate shell adds a firm layer between the flaky pastry and soft ice cream. You get crisp croissant, cracking chocolate, and cold ice cream in the same bite.
Press It Together and Eat It Like a Sandwich

Once filled, the croissant gets pressed around the ice cream. The final cross-section shows the bar melting into the pastry while pieces of its chocolate coating remain intact.
That contrast explains why the combination works beyond its social-media appeal. Croissants bring buttery layers and crunch; ice cream brings the cold, creamy center. No cone or bowl needed.
