Outback Steakhouse is closing more restaurants as parent company Bloomin’ Brands continues a turnaround plan that has already reduced the chain’s U.S. footprint.
Two long-running locations are among the latest closures. According to TheStreet, an Outback in Evansville, Wyoming, closed in August, while a Baltimore restaurant that has operated for more than 20 years is set to close on October 11.

Wyoming lost one of its two Outback locations
The Evansville restaurant closed on August 23, leaving a note thanking customers for their support. The location opened in 1998 and had been under franchise ownership for about 21 years.
Its closure leaves Cheyenne as the home of the remaining Outback Steakhouse in Wyoming. Bloomin’ Brands said the Evansville restaurant was franchise-owned and the company did not have details about the decision to close it.
Baltimore restaurant will close in October
Outback will also close its restaurant at 2400 Boston Street in Baltimore on October 11 after more than two decades in business. The company thanked the community and employees who had worked at the restaurant over the years.
Outback did not give a specific reason for the Baltimore closure. Customers were directed to other restaurants in Glen Burnie and Perry Hall, while another Baltimore location remains open on Ebenezer Road.
More closures are tied to a broader turnaround
The two restaurants come amid a larger effort by Bloomin’ Brands to cut locations that do not fit its plans for future growth. The company closed 21 U.S. restaurants during 2025 and decided not to renew leases for another 22 U.S. locations, with most of those leases scheduled to expire across the following four years.
Restaurant reductions continued in 2026. Bloomin’ Brands closed nine restaurants across its portfolio during the second quarter, including four company-owned locations and five franchised restaurants, while opening five.
The changes form part of a multi-year turnaround strategy launched in November 2025. Rather than representing more than 40 restaurants closing at once, the reductions span closed restaurants, future lease expirations, company-owned locations, and franchises.
Outback Steakhouse remains open across the U.S., though the latest closures show that its restaurant map is still changing as Bloomin’ Brands evaluates which locations have room for future growth.
