shrimp caeser burger on a wheat bun on a grey plate.

Mix up your dinner routine with healthy grilled Caesar shrimp burgers! 5-Ingredient shrimp patties are so simple to make, taste great on the grill, and make a delicious burger topped with homemade Caesar dressing and shaved parmesan. (gluten-free)

Ingredients

Scale

For Shrimp Burger Patties:

  • 1 1/2 lb peeled deveined shrimp
  • Juice from 1/2 small lemon
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 green onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

For Serving:

  • 4 whole wheat buns (or gluten-free buns, if necessary)
  • Greek yogurt Caesar dressing (or any type you prefer)
  • Finely shaved parmesan cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Thinly sliced red onion
  • Sliced tomato

Instructions

  1. Add shrimp, lemon juice, garlic, green onion, Old Bay seasoning and pepper to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse in spurts until ingredients are finely chopped and mixed well.
  2. Use your hands to form the shrimp mixture into 4 patties (you may have a little extra to make 5 patties). Place them on a plate lined with parchment or waxed paper and place in the freezer until you are ready to cook, at least 30 minutes.
  3. Make the Caesar dressing, if making homemade.
  4. Preheat grill on high and brush to clean. Lower heat to medium.
  5. Grill shrimp burgers directly from the freezer (do not let them thaw first), about 5 minutes per side, or until shrimp is opaque and patty is firm.
  6. Remove from grill and serve each patty on a bun with Caesar dressing, lettuce, red onion, tomato, and finely shaved parmesan.

Notes

  • The trick to getting the burgers to stay together on the grill is to freeze them first. 30 minutes to an hour should be plenty of time. Then take them directly from the freezer to the grill without thawing. If you have to stack the patties to put them in the freezer, place parchment or waxed paper between each patty.
  • If you don't have a grill, you can make these burgers in a preheated skillet on the stovetop with a bit of oil.
  • If you don't care for Caesar dressing, you can serve these with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce.
  • These burgers are great for baby led weaning! To serve to babies, cut patties into strips the size and shape of your pinky finger.
  • For a no-salt version, use a salt-free seasoning similar to Old Bay, such as Marshall's Creek (you'll want to use no salt for BLW).
