Author: Kaleigh Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 15 minutes Yield: 3 cups 1x Category: sauce Method: stovetop Cuisine: BBQ Scale 1x 2x 3x Ingredients 1 tbsp avocado or olive oil (or bacon grease) 1/2 medium onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, chopped 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce 2 tbsp tomato paste 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup molasses 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp yellow mustard 1 tsp chipotle powder 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper In a medium saucepan, heat oil over low heat. Add garlic and onion and cook, stirring, until softened. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low about 5 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat and use an immersion blender to blend sauce until smooth, or let sauce cool to room temperature then pour into a blender and blend until smooth. Worcestershire sauce usually contains soy sauce, so it has a small amount of gluten. If that is a concern, look for brands made without soy sauce. It also contains anchovies, so it is not vegetarian.
