Healthy Caramel Apple Waffles

Caramel apple waffles are the coziest fall weekend breakfast! Whole grain apple waffles with an easy caramel apple topping are a great way to start your Saturday or Sunday! (vegetarian, nut-free)



For the Waffles:

For Caramel Apple Topping:


  1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  2. Add egg, apple, yogurt and milk. Stir until combined.
  3. Heat waffle iron and spray with cooking spray. Scoop about 3/4 cup batter into waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Repeat with remaining batter.
  5. Meanwhile, make caramel apple topping. In a small saucepan, heat diced apple and honey over low heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are softened, about 10 minutes. Stir in salt.
  6. Top waffles with additional yogurt and apple topping.
