Homemade Gingerbread Syrup

Gingerbread syrup.

Add a taste of the holidays with gingerbread syrup! This simple syrup recipe is easy to make and so festive for flavoring coffee, pancakes, oatmeal and more! (gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (or 1/4 tsp ground)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 tsp ground)
  • 1 nutmeg pod (or 1 tsp ground)
  • 1/2 tsp whole cloves (or 1/2 tsp ground)
  • 1/2 tsp allspice berries (or 1/2 tsp ground)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer about 25 minutes.
  3. Let syrup cool, covered, at least 30 minutes. Strain through cheesecloth into a bottle or jar with a lid.
  4. Store in the refrigerator and use to flavor coffee, oatmeal, pancakes, and more!
