Easy Apple Cider Sangria

apple cider sangria in a glass with apple slices and a cinnamon stick on a wooden board with a napkin and cut apple.

This easy apple cider sangria is a delicious fall cocktail or a crowd. It's not too sweet, simple to make in advance with just a few ingredients, and perfect for Thanksgiving or other holidays!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 honey crisp apples, diced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle dry white wine (pinot grigio works well)
  • 3 cups apple cider
  • 1/2- 1 cup brandy
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda

Instructions

  1. Add diced apples, cinnamon sticks and star anise to a large pitcher.
  2. Add wine, apple cider and brandy. Stir and chill anywhere from a couple of hours to 2 days.
  3. Add the sparkling water just before serving.
  4. Serve over ice, garnished with apple slices and cinnamon sticks for a pretty touch!

Notes

  • I used plain brandy (not an expensive bottle!) but apple would be delicious too.
  • If you can't find star anise, feel free to leave it out. It will still be delicious. You could also substitute a few whole cloves.
  • You can use another spirit in place of brandy, such as Crown maple or vodka.
