Juicy and super flavorful flank steak marinated in a delicious Asian-inspired marinade. Perfect flavor and cooked to perfection according to your liking.
2 pounds flank steak
1 tablespoon neutral-tasting cooking oil
For marinade:
1 thumb fresh ginger
2 garlic cloves
4 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
a bunch of fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon chili flakes (optional)
Peel and grate the ginger root and garlic cloves. Chop the cilantro finely.
Add the grated ginger and garlic into a bowl.
Add the soy sauce, honey, cilantro, and chili flakes to the bowl and mix well.
Put the flank steak inside a ziplock bag with the marinade, making sure to cover everything. Close and let marinate for 30 min minimum to 2 hours.
Once marinated, heat a grill pan and cook the flank steak according to your liking.
Serve sliced with a side of white rice, grilled veggies, a salad…
The longer you marinate the steak the darker the color it will be. I like to leave it marinating in a ziplock bag because it’s an easier way to make sure it's covered with the marinated on all its sides.
To cook it to your liking it will all depend on the thickness of your steak, but generally, these are the timings:
Rare: 1 ½ min per side
Medium rare: 2 mins per side
Medium 2 ¼ ins per side
Well done: 4-5 mins per side
